on the news. broadband.

i've been trying to update myself on the national broadband controversy.
the first time i got interested in this issue was during jun lozada's first senate hearing. i was in the office and i was listening online. i found some of his replies witty thus i found the entire hearing quite entertaining. the first time i got wing of the news though was during the early morning when he did the press con while he was in la salle. i remember i was writing a report back home and the usual radio program i listened to then was not having its regular light discussions. the regular talks on love life was replaced with up to the minute news reporting. now, a lot of protest rallies, surveys, opposing opinions, and big names have been introduced because of the overpriced broadband issue.

one of the names that lozada and madriaga mentioned was that of a certain ruben reyes. some news articles identified him as the alter-ego of abalos, a close malacanang friend, the person in the 'gang of four' (includes abalos, leo san miguel and torch dela torre), the recipient of the NBN deal's advances, and one of the names that also popped up during the 'hello garci' tapes. if this reyes belongs in the same family of reyeses we who know lives in wack-wack and used to be in real estate, then he'd probably be in the US now. and, if he is the same reyes i'm thinking of, i doubt he'd show himself and testify even if he's here.

however, guess it's best to wait till tuesday's hearing.
